Bath Judo Kwai’s Harry Godwin produced a gold medal winning performance at the recent National Home Counties Junior Open Tournament held at High Wycombe. Fighting in the Open weight category 13-Year-Old Godwin faced old rival Andrew Pickerill from Littleport. Pickerill won the gold medal at the National Aged-Banded championships in the age band group that Godwin had just moved out from and now had to contest against player of up to 16 years-old gaining a Fifth Place after losing the repechage final. With four straight wins at the NHC Open tournament Godwin showed he is still a force to be reckoned with amongst national players.

Additional success came to Bath Judo Kwai players with eight players selected to represent Somerset at the Inter-County Championships to be held in Bristol. Joining Godwin in the Boys teams are Rory Ilott and Darol Sawyer. In the girls teams are Sisters Avril Gay and Carla Gay, Kayleigh and Kiera Madden and Emily Jane Turner
