Seven Bath Judokwai players competed at the Somerset Closed Mini-Mons competition, held in Glastonbury, and brought home six medals. In the morning session Aron Reynolds in his first competition won gold along with Emily-Jane Turner. In the Afternoon brothers Tyler and Logan Barrass both collected gold medals from their respective weight groups and George Emery and Randall Reynolds collected a bronze each. Aaron Jefferies in his first competition fought well, nearly winning the bronze but was caught right at the end of his bronze medal contest to loose this fight. At the same tournament Rory Ilott completed his exams and assessment to qualify as a national level 2 Junior Referee. He is the first referee the club has produced with five more passing their theory exam a few weeks previous and now need to attend a practical assessment. These are Jamie Barrass, Amber Hitchcocks, Avril and Carla Gay, and Keira Madden. This is another step to the club achieving the Sport England Silver Club Mark Award.
Harry Godwin & Avril Gay pictured with their haul of medals from just one weekend of tournaments. Last weekend Harry took the Silver medal at the presigious Welsh Open to set his place amonst the best in Britain. He then travelled to Bristol on the folloeing day to secure a Gold at the Bristol Classic Championships. Team mate Avril Gay took a magnificent Gold at the Welsh Open and followed that with a fine performance in the Bristol Classic to pick up the Bronze. Fellow Bath Judokwai player Rory Ilott came away with a creditable 7th place from a pool of 17. With over 30 clubs represented our congratulations go to all three.
