Bath Judokwai entered sixteen players into the Somerset Closed Judo Tournament in Taunton and returned with thirteen medals.
In the junior girls’ competition Avril Gay, Carla Gay, Kiera Madden and Kayleigh Madden all won Gold in their weight groups and Emily Turner, in her first competition, won a Silver Medal.
In the junior boys’ event Joe Spalding, Rory Ilott, Max Kombert and George Emery, also in his first competition, all won Silver Medals. Bradley Malkin finished his large group of sixteen entrants in fifth place. Alistair Addley and Joel Lees-Massey in their first competition missed out on the medals to more experienced players.
In the ladies seniors kyu grades Rebecca Pierce won all her fights to claim the gold medal and Linda Klaver won the senior ladies Black Belt competition claiming gold.
In the senior men’s Black Belts, Jonathan Bolton claimed a Silver Medal in the under-90kg weight group and Coach Jan Hitchcocks claimed a Bronze in the Over-90Kgs group.
